The 2012 Audi A5 two-door coupe and cabriolet are German sporting cars with a turbocharged engine. They feature a Bauhaus-inspired interior and unique exterior design, featuring LED lighting. Because Audi equips the A5 with a turbocharged four cylinder engine, they also combine solid performance with excellent fuel economy.
Classed as a subcompact car, the Audi A5 has room for four passengers. Due to its coupe configuration, the front seats offer ample room for both driver and passenger while the rear two seating positions are better used for short periods of time or for small children. Trunk space is adequate, with 12.3 cubic feet available, and 10.4 still open when the roof is lowered on the cabriolet version. The A5 offers a precise drive,
thanks to the traction of its all wheel drive system and the stiffness of its body, although its relatively high weight and lightly powered four-cylinder engine can give it a more sedate feel than other cars of its class.
Audi includes a full range of safety technologies in the 2012 A5. These include multiple air bags, anti-lock brakes and advanced traction and stability control systems. A5 coupes and cabriolets with the quattro all-wheel drive system also benefit from enhanced grip and traction in all conditions, but especially in inclement weather. Higher end A5's can also be optionally equipped with both a blind-spot assist system as well as adaptive cruise control which can even brake the car if necessary.
The A5 ships with Audi's well-respected 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. It generates 211 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and can accelerate the car from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 6.2 seconds. Audi ships the all-wheel-drive coupe with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Front wheel drive cabriolet A5's ship with a CVT transmission, while quattro-equipped vehicles have the same Tiptronic transmission as the coupe.
A5 vehicles come in three different trim lines: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Premium coupes and cabriolets ship with features including climate control, leather power front seats, and a power sunroof or power soft-top cabriolet roof. Upgrading to Prestige Plus adds features like xenon headlights, heated memory seats, Bluetooth support and three-zone climate control. Fully loaded Prestige vehicles add features including Audi's MMI multimedia and navigation system, blind spot assist and a Bang and Olufsen audio system.
Thanks to their four cylinder engines, all of the 2012 Audi A5 variants enjoy excellent fuel economy. The all-wheel drive coupe and convertible variants both achieve 21 miles per gallon in the city and either 31 or 29 mpg on the freeway, depending on if they have the manual or Tiptronic transmission. CVT cabriolets achieve 22 city mpg and 30 highway mpg.
